Yesterday we travelled back to Barcelona from Madrid in just over three hours in the train; most of it at 300kph. And by mid-afternoon, we had checked in to our B&B in Calle Mallorca. Brad and Marg had also arrived in Barcelona, two days early. So we travelled to La Rambla to meet them, strolled though the Gothic quarter, and then found a nice bar for some tapas, cervezas and vinos tintos. Check out these tàpas. They were as good as any we had tried.
Today, we had booked tickets to Museo Picasso; which turned out well, as the queue for tickets was very long. This is an amazing collection and an interesting description of Picasso’s life. Not to be missed. But all “no foto”.
After a bit of shopping and a long walk back to the B&B, we got ready for the evening, and some Puccini. We had managed to secure tickets to an opera at the magnificent Liceu Theatre (Gran Teatre del Liceu) in the middle of La Rambla; which was showing Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. The theatre, opened in 1847, is beautiful and the opera was amazing. A fantastic way to finish off the trip.
Tomorrow, after lunch with Marg and Brad, we head for the airport and Brisbane, and maybe look forward to another trip to Spain in the future. Adios!

Viaje fabuloso
