The week has been going at a relaxed pace with leisurely breakfasts, multiple swims in the pool and trips to the beach, and long, relaxed evenings over food and wine and lively conversation.

Back to Girona

On Tuesday, we managed to fit in a re-visit to Girona with others from the group. After a nice lunch in Plaça de Independència, Sally and I visited the Girona History Museum while the others explored the famous sites.
The museum has an interesting collection housed in a beautifully restored historic house, which also served as a Capuchin monastery. Along with an array of historical artifacts, the museum plots the history of Girona from its establishment by the Romans in the 1st Century BC, to the return of democracy in 1975 and onwards.

Yesterday, we walked a section of the Cami de Ronda, a coastal walking track that runs around the beaches and headlands along the length of the coast near Begur. We walked from our nearest beach, Platja de Racó, past Platja de Sa Riera to partly around the cape Punta de la Creu. Finally, the heat and thoughts of a swim in the pool made us turn back.

A small cove along the way
Tomorrow we will travel to the medieval town of Besalú.
