Had to write a separate review on dinner tonight as it was very memorable. If you ever get the opportunity to eat in Perugia, you have to try Trattoria Oberdan.

We had booked for 7:30 which was when they opened for dinner service on Sundays and the restaurant was almost full within 15 minutes of our arriving.
We chose an indoor table as a. the air- conditioner was appealing after our not too difficult walk up the hill, b. the table was level, not sloping at 15 degrees, and c. most importantly, we weren’t disturbed by cigarette smoke.
The wait staff were friendly and happy to accept our attempts at Italian although they all spoke good English. Our orders were taken efficiently and delivered with perfect timing.
For entrees, I had Papardelle al ragù de cinghiale (wild boar) and Sally had Gnocchi zafferano e tartuffo. The papardelle was great; but the gnocchi was sensational with huge flavour from the truffle.

For secondi, we chose the Tagliata di pollo alla cacciatora (sliced chicken cacciatora) for me and Trippa alla Perugina for Sally – a bold choice for someone who doesn’t always eat tripe, but it was delicious. The chicken was also great – and generous.

The wine was a very pleasant sagrantino which was the perfect accompaniment to the food. We had no room for dessert. May have to come again another night.

Glad you found that trattoria. Brave to try the tripe.
