We are sadly nearing the end of our stay in Perugia. So, between showers on Thursday, we explored more of the old city.

We also visited Pozzo Etrusco, an Etruscan well in Piazza Ignazio Danti. The well was built in the 3rd Century BC, is up to 5.6m wide in the top section and can hold around 424,000 litres. It appears to have been used to supply water well into the 15th Century.
Enough Wikipedia – it was very impressive!

Today, Friday, was fairly quiet as it was raining intermittently. Wandered around exploring, tried to climb Torre Scriri – sadly closed today – 232 steps, so not too disappointed.

Tonight, we went to see La Boheme at Teatro Marlacchi. We bought two of the last few tickets; so, we were very high up and just above the stage. But if was fantastic. Magnificent theatre and great performances by the singers and orchestra. Wasn’t expecting Puccini in Perugia but was a great surprise.

Tomorrow we leave for Rome.

Thanks Colin. Another brilliant travelogue.
