Yesterday, we travelled to Barcelona at 300 kmh. A pleasant trip in the train in the First Class coach then a short taxi ride to our excellent small hotel, We Boutique Hotel – only six roooms – around the corner from the Arc de Triomf.

We wandered around for a couple of hours, down to La Rambla and through the Gothic Quarter, battling the crowds of tourists. Back in our area, it is quieter and has a nice feel. We enjoyed a seafood paella for dinner at a good restaurant almost next door to the hotel, Casa Ràfols.

Today, we had a guided tour booked at the Sagrada Familia. It truly is a magnificent building. Much has been achieved since our last visit in 2018. We marvelled at the level of detail Gaudi has put into this structure. It is truly a cathedral the like of which has never been seen before or will ever be seen again.

We also took on one of the towers, fortunately with a lift. The trip down however was via a winding spiral staircase – to be taken with some care and much gripping of the hand rail by some 70 year olds.

We will enjoy a vermouth or two later and dinner in one of the many restaurants in our beautiful street.
Then tomorrow, we catch a taxi to the airport and Singapore Airlines to Brisbane! Hasta la vista!

Absolutely amazing architecture Colin. Loved every minute of your trip.
